Pokémon Legends Z-A announced for 2025 + return of Mega Evolutions

Announcement of New Pokémon Game in Pokémon Presents Livestream
The new Pokémon game was announced with a trailer during the Pokémon Presents livestream in honor of Pokémon Day. In the trailer, we see a sketch of the “Urban Redevelopment Plan” for “Lumiose City” come to life. Fans of Pokémon X and Y will recognize Lumiose City, one of the largest locations in these games. Nintendo later announced via X that the game is set entirely in Lumiose City. This is in contrast to Legends Arceus, where we could explore an old version of the entire Sinnoh region.
A Second “Legends” Game
So, the new Pokémon game bears the “Legends” title, known from Legends Arceus. That title brought a new twist to the classic Pokémon formula, including an open-world environment where you could ride and fly on Pokémon, a focus on catching and researching Pokémon, and the introduction of Alpha and Noble Pokémon. It's very likely that we will see these features again in Legends Z-A, but this time in Lumiose City instead of the Hisui region.
Back to Lumiose City from Pokémon X and Y
In Legends Z-A, we will be able to explore an early version of Lumiose City. The iconic Prism Tower of Lumiose City is already visible in the trailer. Will we also see other landmarks, such as the Lumiose Museum, in Legends Z-A? Who knows! Based on the Urban Redevelopment Plan from the trailer, it seems that the city layout is comparable to the layout we know from Pokémon X and Y: a round shape with 5 large exit roads to other Routes.
Return of Mega Evolutions?
More good news for Pokémon fans! The Legends Z-A trailer concludes with the Mega Evolution logo. This feature has not been seen in a number of games and is considered by many fans as one of the most enjoyable features they would like to see return. With Mega Evolutions, you can give one Pokémon in your party a temporary additional evolution making them stronger, and perhaps more importantly, look even cooler. Mega Evolutions were introduced in Pokémon X and Y, so it seems a logical choice to bring the feature back in Legends Z-A. Currently, 46 Pokémon have a Mega Evolution. Let's hope that Legends Z-A will add more Pokémon to this list in 2025!
