10. The Duskbloods

This new PvPvE from the mind of Hidetaka Miyazaki is coming exclusively to the Nintendo Switch 2. You are a Bloodsworn, a warrior that takes on vampiric creatures that seem to come straight from your nightmares. Together with 7 other Bloodsworn fighters, you take on these beasts. There’s also a PvE game mode if you prefer a solo adventure.

Since this game is made by the same director that gave us incredible games like Elden Ring, Bloodborne and Dark Souls, you can expect the same sort of dark-gothic feel. The Duskbloods also focuses on challenging combat, so get ready for hours and hours of battling a difficult boss. What sets The Duskbloods apart, is the multiplayer combat. This might make for an interesting addition compared to other games soulslike games we’ve seen.

9. Resident Evil Requiem

In 2026, we get to play the 9th instalment of the Resident Evil series. In Resident Evil Requiem, we go back to the beginnings of the outbreak in Raccoon City. Grace Ashcroft is an FBI analyst who is assigned to a case where a victim, who was discovered in an abandoned hotel, has an unidentifiable disease.

Capcom is definitely doing everything they can to make sure every type of gamer knows about Requiem. Aside from the typical deluxe edition, merch, and other limited bonuses, the studio also launched an Amiibo and a partnership with Fortnite. The question will be: can this new game live up to all the hype?

8. 007 First Light

With how big the James Bond movies are, it’s kind of strange that we haven’t had a 007 game in over 12 years. But that’s about to change, because 007 First Light releases next year! The game dives into the origins of the famous spy. You’ll discover how James enrols in the MI6 training program, and you get to play through his first missions.

One thing we know for sure: this game is definitely in the hands of the right developers. IO Interactive, the company behind the Hitman series, are taking on this James Bond game. They know how to make an exciting game about secret assassins. If we can believe the first trailers, 007 First Light is bound to be an explosive spy spectacle.

  • Release date: March 27, 2026
  • Genre: Action-adventure
  • Consoles: PS5, Xbox Series X|S, PC, Nintendo Switch 2

7. Nioh 3

We can look forward to another Nioh game in 2026! This time we follow Tokugawa Takechiyo on his mission to save Japan. This time-transcending battle is mostly set in a big open world. That means there’s also a lot more focus on world exploration in between all the fights.

In Nioh 3 you can also choose between 2 different combat styles: Samurai and Ninja. If you go for Samurai, you unlock more high-powered techniques. This play style is for fighters that like to charge headfirst at enemies and blast them with powerful hits. Prefer a more agile and swift battle? Then the Ninja combat with nimble dodges and rapid attacks, will fit you perfectly.

6. Marvel’s Wolverine

A new game from Marvel is always something to look forward to, and this time a truly iconic character takes the spotlight. In this game, Wolverine is looking for answers about his past. This journey leads him to dark places where brutal enemies are waiting for him. Armed with deadly claws, he dives into one battle after the other. Although Wolverine is known to fight his battles alone, there might be some surprising team-ups waiting.

Marvel’s Wolverine promises the great cocktail of brutal fights, intense scenarios and a moving story that we’ve come to expect from Insomniac Games. However, Wolverine is a darker and more complex superhero, which will make for an interesting twist.

5. Fable

After 6 years, Fable finally returns to Xbox! The new game promises to return to Albion, where you decide what it means to be a hero. There’s a dark threat lurking in the kingdom and the choices you make will have an impact on the future of Albion. All the trailers have been shot in a sort-of mockumentary style, filled with cheeky jokes. This tells us we can count on some hilarious moments in between all the combat.

Unfortunately, the studio behind the original Fable games doesn’t exist any more, which is why Playground Games is releasing this new game. Playground definitely knows how to make a beautiful game, because they’re behind the Horizon games. But can they bring the same level of detail to a third-person action RPG? We’ll have to wait and see, but the trailers are very promising.

  • Genre: Open world RPG
  • Consoles: Xbox Series X|S, PC
  • Developer: Playground Games

4. Saros

One of the best games that’s been released for the PlayStation 5 is Returnal. Good news, because the creators of this roguelite are releasing another game in 2026. Saros builds on their previous game, but this time it’s set on a mysterious planet that’s dealing with an ominous solar eclipse.

Just like Returnal, Solar is based around a time-loop. This means you’ll have to replay levels endlessly to uncover more hints and solve the mystery. What makes Solar different is that you can take all the weapons you find. This means you’ll get stronger with every run, which might hint at boss fights or other battles.

Aside from this, Housemarque is keeping the details around this game mysterious. But we can’t wait to see what this new roguelite has in store for us.

Additional information

  • Release date: March 20, 2026
  • Genre: Roguelite
  • Consoles: PS5
  • Developer: Housemarque

3. Crimson Desert

In Crimson Desert, you step into the world of Pywel: a continent filled with magical creatures, mysterious castles and epic battles. However, this world is taken by war, and it’s your job to try to put a stop to this. Can you save Pywel from the impending doom?

We’ve played dozens of open-world RPG’s, so what makes Crimson Desert so special? According to the gameplay trailers and the various players who’ve had the chance to try this game, there’s not a single boring moment. The world is a vast, open landscape filled with opportunities. It feels alive and there’s something new to explore at every turn.

One day you might fight in a brutal battle and the next you’ll be trying to tame a magical beast for fun. This paired with small updates like hair collision, draw distance and dynamic weather might make Crimson Desert one of the most immersive RPGs yet.

Additional information

  • Release date: March 19, 2026
  • Genre: Open world RPG
  • Consoles: PS5, Xbox Series X|S, PC
  • Developer: Pearl Abyss

2. Pokémon Pokopia

Pokémon Pokopia was announced during the Nintendo Direct presentation in September. As soon as we saw the gameplay for this game, we were instantly hooked. Pokopia is a laid back survival game. The adorable and blocky world seems to be inspired by Minecraft, so it’s likely that it follows the same gameplay as well.

The trailer shown during Nintendo Direct shows a Ditto that turned into a human, this is the character you play with. You can learn from other Pokémon in order to change the environment. For example, you can learn to make plants from a Bulbasaur and after this a Squirtle teaches you how to water them. There’s still a lot unclear about the game, but it definitely seems to be a fun new addition to this series!

Additional information

  • Release date: 2026 (no specific date announced yet)
  • Genre: Life simulation, crafting
  • Consoles: Nintendo Switch 2
  • Developer: Omega Force

1. GTA 6

The game that everyone is waiting for: GTA 6. If Rockstar Games sticks to its own promises, 2026 will finally be the year that we get a new Grand Theft Auto game. The 6th instalment in this franchise is set in the fictional town Vice City and follows the bank-robbing couple Jason and Lucia. When a seemingly easy score goes wrong, they find themselves in the middle of a criminal conspiracy. They’ll have to rely on each other if they want to make it out alive.

It’s been 13 years since we’ve got a new GTA game, and this one promises to be the biggest yet. The map is supposed to be massive and the gameplay even more immersive. If we can believe the gameplay trailers we’ve seen thus far, it’ll also be one of the most realistic games ever made. Whatever this game will look like, it’s certain to bring the whole gaming community to a halt.

GTA 6 is a classic in the making, and it’ll definitely dictate the future of games as a whole.

Additional information

  • Release date: May 26, 2026
  • Genre: Open world, action-adventure
  • Consoles: PS5, Xbox Series X|S
  • Developer: Rockstar Games
